~School is located in Hockinson, WA in the foothills of the cascades. We accept students ages 9 to 18 on a yearly basis and cater (though not exclusively) to those on the home school, natural learning or unschool path.
We are situated on 10 acres that include: a perennial creek, seasonal gardens, poultry paddocks, orchards, timber, natural forested lands, meadows and a covered activity area.
Our facility has over 2000 sq. feet of dedicated space with a library, music room, workshop and game area built into a remodeled 1970's farmhouse.
All activities are overseen by Aaron Mattison who lives onsite and manages the property.
Tilde School is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00am - 6:00pm and students attend a minimum of one day each week.
Students must be picked up by 6:00pm but can come and go as they please within their individually negotiated educational agreements.
We start our program at 10:00am with indoor or outdoor activities designed to build resources, explore the grounds and learn about their upkeep, take care of animals, and learn to do basic real world tasks for ourselves.
We take time to prepare lunch for ourselves or in small groups, eat leisurely, share conversation and read from noon-2:00pm.
From 2-6:00pm we work on our own projects, collaborations or presentations.
On our days off there is no mandatory homework, however parents, students and coach will develop plans to maintain an environment at home or with outside activities that is conducive to learning.
We have 8 weeks off each year 4 weeks to be taken at any time.

Tuition ranges from $10-$14 per hour. Tuition decreases as your child attends more days at Tilde School. We offer discounts for paying your yearly tuition in full and for families enrolling siblings.
